The purpose of the Speyerer Kommunaltage is to broach the issues of current reforms, problems and challenges at the municipal level in Germany. The conference will deal with the topic of “municipal finances during and after the crisis?”  Financial problems, in which municipalities have not found themselves since the “great financial crisis”, and innovative strategies for budgetary consolidation, including the question of if the municipalities in Germany need a bailout, will be discussed.  Moreover, perspectives of municipal finance and management reform as well as recommended courses of action for municipal budgetary policies will be presented.
