May 16^th, 2011 – Speyer Communal Day 2011: Municipal Finances after/during the Crisis?

On October 6^th and 7^th, 2011 the Speyer Communal Day will take place at the German University for Administrative Sciences in Speyer under the direction of Prof. Dr. Sabine Kuhlmann and Dr. Christian Theobald. This year the topic of “Municipal Finances after/during the Crisis” will be taken up. Further information can be found here.

April 26^th, 2011 – The Decentralization of Governments in Europe

The book, “The Decentralization of the Governments in Europe”, is now available from the VS publishing company and summarizes the findings of a DFG project conducted by Prof. Dr. Sabine Kuhlmann and Prof. Dr. Jörg Bogumil. Further information can be found here.

March 17^th, 2011 – EUROLOC Summer School

This year‘s EUROLOC Summer School about “Rescaling Government: Reforming Public Administration and Local Government” will take place in Athens between the 18th and 23rd of September (www.eurolocnetwork.eu). Prof. Kuhlmann will be directing the panel “How to measure the results of institutional reforms? Evaluation of institutional change and performance of newly established institutional settings”. February 16^th, 2011 – Working Group “Lokale Politikforschung” of the DVPW

On the 5^th and 6^th of April the German Society for Political Science (DPVW) working group “Lokale Politikforschung” (LOPOFO) is meeting at the University of Kassel. The conference program can be found here. Registration for the conference can be done via an Email to Prof. Michael Haus.

February 16^th, 2011 – The 11^th AFSP Congress - Strasbourg 2011.

Within the framework of the 11^th Congress of the French Society for Political Science (August 31^st – September 2^nd, 2011) a panel comprised of the “Working Group for Comparative Administrative Sciences” and covering the theme "Les administrations publiques en réforme(s) :une comparaison Allemagne-France” will be held on September 1^st, 2011.  Further information can be found here. January 21^st, 2011 - 33rd EGPA Annual Conference September 7 – 9, 2011

Prof. Dr. Sabine Kuhlmann has taken over the function of the Co-Chair in the Permanent Study Group V “Regional and Local Government” of the EGPA.  The Call for Papers for the Panel “Restructuring Sub-Central Government in Europe: Convergent or Divergent Paths” that is being organized by the PSG V in line with the 33^rd EGPA Annual Conference in Bucharest, Romania (Sept. 7 – 9, 2011) can be found here.

May 23^rd, 2011 – Administrative Reform in the People’s Republic of China

In October 2010 the first excursion as part of the research project “Vertical Administrative Reform in the People’s Republic of China” took place and was conducted by DHV Speyer and the Research Institute with the Chinese Academy of Governance (CAG) and the Chinese Society of Administrative Reform in Peking with support from the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ, formerly GTZ).

 January 5^th, 2011 – Conference to be held by the Research Group "Lokale Politikforschung"

Suggestions for discussion at the conference held by the research group “Lokale Politikforschung” of the DVPW, which will take place in Kassel on April 5^th and 6^th, 2011, can be submitted up until January 31^st, 2011.  The Call contains further information and be found here.
